What is Reiki?

Reiki, pronounced Ray-key, is Japanese for universal life force, which is the subtle energy that resides in all things. Reiki is a method of energy work that was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the early twentieth century and was brought to the United States by Hawayo Takata.

The practice involves the laying on of hands in order to sense imbalances in the body and uses subtle energies to guide the body back into energetic balance. Extensive information about the development of Reiki is available at the Reiki Institute web site.
